This is our notice board for communicating to parents, children and to our community

On behalf of the staff, pupils, parents and governors I wish you a very warm welcome to our school website. I hope it will give you an insight into what we have on offer for our children and families from Shobdon and surrounding areas.

The school has been an important and integral part of the village of Shobdon for over 150 years, indeed the original school building can still be seen in the heart of the village today. The present building, officially opened in 1987, developed the importance of community, having a shared village hall and as such plays an important part in the life of local people.

Over the last few years we have worked tirelessly to improve our setting to ensure that what we have can deliver a 21st Century education. We aim for our pupils to be become fully equipped for the challenges of later life in an advancing technological world and an integrated society.

We pride ourselves on providing a broad and balanced education in the most beautiful setting, which really has to be seen to be believed. The school, set in a large, safe and secure environment, has ample space and opportunity for the children to participate in activities that develop their interests and abilities to enable them to grow into rounded individuals.

In the extensive grounds we have developed a pond area which is populated with a variety of bugs, insects, wildlife and plants to enhance our learning. The setting lends itself ideally to our Forest School activities, with many places in which to explore and learn. We have a tyre park and a trim trail to enhance playtimes and our own Keder greenhouse, African garden and raised beds to enjoy planting and harvesting.

Our children love participating in sport and the pitches and courts are well used, whilst the playgrounds afford plenty of space to expound energy!

Our bright, light and fully refurbished classrooms each open out onto the grounds to extend learning beyond the classroom. We have a well-stocked library that our pupil librarians run with efficiency; a small group teaching space fondly known as the Lovell Room and our latest improvement ‘The Garden Room’ which combines an environmentally friendly building  with the latest technology.

We are also very fortunate to have Shobdon Arches Preschool on site. A privately run setting with which we work closely.

In September 2017 Shobdon Primary School and Luston Primary School federated with the formation of a single governing body. The two school sites are seven miles apart and are both located in the heart of their village communities. Pupil numbers are similar at both schools and there is a shared common ethos of excellence for the children and the staff teams. The two schools are led by Mary Freeman, with a Head of School in each setting overseeing day to day management of the schools. All staff work closely together within the federation in order to enhance the rich provision for our pupils.

Shobdon Primary School continues to push the boundaries of learning for all its pupils and will continue to do so for all children who pass through its doors. We look forward to welcoming and working with you and your child/children, in partnership, to provide a rewarding and enjoyable experience at Shobdon Primary School.
