If you go down to the woods today…

The grand finale to our Healthy School Week saw all 3 classes take part in preparing a yummy and nutritious picnic lunch for all the children & staff.
Class Three added delicious toppings to pizza bases whilst Class Two made many rounds of sandwiches and chopped carrots and cucumber sticks. Class One melted and mixed chocolate with marshmellows to provide a scrumptious (and rather moreish) pudding!
Another hot day meant that the children were relieved to be under the wonderful shade of the trees in the arboretum after a brisk walk up from school. Once there we settled down to enjoy our well prepared picnic. After letting our lunch go down, Class One went off to explore the woods and play some exciting games. Class Two and Three followed an orienteering course in small groups. What a wonderful ending to a wonderful week!

Looking after your teeth

Mum and dentist, Mrs Sam Harper came into school this afternoon to demonstrate ‘healthy habits’ and chatted to us about looking after our teeth. As part of the session the children got to brush their teeth along to a fun song. Afterwards each classroom smelt so minty fresh!

Healthy School Week – gymnastics

As part of our ‘Healthy School Week’ we welcomed Caroline in to run gymnastics sessions throughout the day with all 3 classes. She brought some of her specialised equipment along and set up in the hall. The children throughly enjoyed the opportunity to experience new and exciting apparatus and the staff learned a thing or two about gymnastics along the way! Thank you Caroline – we hope to see you again soon!

Sports Day 2013

After last year’s sports day washout, we were so excited to see the weather forecast for this year’s event. A grey and overcast start led to a hot and sunny finish!
The children were brilliant and raced with gusto and enthusiam! The novelty obstacle races were particularly exciting, especially as they were linked to the children’s current topics! Class One took part in a pirates race, Class Two a Tudor style race and Class Three invented an amazing Shakespearean experience (complete with fake blood!)
Thankyou to all the parents and carers who attended Sports Day 2013 at Shobdon School!
