Father Christmas flies into Shobdon Airfield
Shobdon School were invited along to the airfield to see a very special person fly in. Clad in Christmas hats and with Christmas cheer we were warmly welcomed by a jolly reindeer and her helpers. As a hush fell over the children, we heard someone requesting permission to land over the radio. Someone who had travelled all the way from the North Pole via Greenland!. To our delight, we eagerly searched the dull sky and saw a speck of red moving in. As it approached further still there was no doubting who the pilot was – a white beard and red hat gave it away! Father Christmas had arrived in style in his gyrocopter! The children were absolutely enthralled with Santa as he stopped and answered every single question giving some very impressive answers! Who knew that Santa’s favourite food is a mince pie?! Of course, Father Christmas is a very busy man and so after a chat he bid a fond farewell and took off into the sky. With cold fingers and toes we were welcomed into the cafe where we feasted upon juice and mince pies. What a fantastic way to start our Christmas celebrations!
The children and staff would like to say a big thank you to everyone at Shobdon airfield who made our visit such a very special one. Merry Christmas!
