Mrs Hancock’s Forthcoming Adventure to Tanzania!

Tanzania 2014

On February 8th 2014 Mrs Hancock will be joining 5 other educationalists from schools in the North of Herefordshire as they embark on a visit of a lifetime. Having successfully applied for a grant through the British Council for a Connecting Classrooms Project; the intrepid travellers will be visiting the schools with whom they have been building up successful links.

The children have been busily engaged in work around the project and active in fund-raising for the school. The children have already translated letters in Swahili from their pen-friends and put together pictures and letters of their own, to be delivered very shortly!

Shobdon Primary School is linked with Manyire Primary School south of Arusha.

The school certainly has a very different profile to ours. With over 600 pupils in classes of 60-70 with very limited resources. We hope that the work we have done, the resources we have bought, the information we have gathered and the knowledge of both our schools will build on a very successful and important link across the world.

It is an incredible coincidence that Mrs Hancock already knows the current headteacher; in fact she was a visitor to her home here in Herefordshire in 1995 as part of another project – Leominster/Tengeru Natural Resources Conservation Project. No doubt that will be a very emotional reunion!
