Science week with Ledicot
WOW!! What a week it has been in Shobdon School. This week we had a science week focusing on lots of different topics, including sound which is the area of science we are studying this term. On Monday, we had a fantastic day looking at recycling, we especially enjoyed creating our own pieces of clothing out of recycled materials.
On Wednesday, we focused on soundproofing and created our own ear protectors using different materials. While we also created some landscape models using materials that would usually be sent to the rubbish dump.
On Friday, we then had another visitor from the Wye and Usk trust. She came to talk to us about life cycles of our rivers and how important it is that week keep our rivers clean for wildlife. All of the class really enjoyed looking at all the different things that can effect the life of a Salmon. In the afternoon, we were very fortunate to have a visit from Dr Rhodes a science specialist who deliver some really fun experiments on sound, focusing on how it travels through vibrations!! I’m sure some of the children will enjoy having a go at some of the experiments again at home!!!!!
